The Society of Veterinary Hospital Pharmacists is an organization comprised of pharmacists working exclusively in the veterinary field, primarily at veterinary teaching hospitals in colleges of veterinary medicine. Our membership is international with the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand represented. The role of the veterinary pharmacist is varied with many clinical and administrative duties including product selection and procurement. Many of our fellows hold faculty positions with colleges of veterinary medicine and colleges of pharmacy where they are instrumental in instructing both veterinary and pharmacy students about the medications used in animals

Membership as a Fellow is restricted to those licensed pharmacists practicing in a veterinary institutional setting providing professional service, teaching and/or research. Associate membership is open to pharmacists, veterinarians or other associated animal health professionals who have an interest in veterinary pharmacy. The International College of Veterinary Pharmacy (ICVP) is the certification board of SVHP. Fellows who meet requirements and complete examinations are eligible to become Diplomates of ICVP.

The Society meets annually for continuing education and exchange of ideas and information concerning our veterinary pharmacy practices.
